Helpful Resources For Couples
If you are a new client to Boice Counseling, you can talk to Michelle, the Office Manager at 585.544.5342 and she will take you to the portal. On the portal, you can schedule your own appointments and change credit cards to an HSA. It is bank level encrypted and your emails there are HIPAA compliant.
For your convenience, you can do the paperwork online and save a tree or two.
With bank-level encryption, you can enter your credit card information and then, in the future, you can make your own appointments and pay for the sessions at your convenience. You have the option of talking to Michelle and making appointments as well as paying over the phone.
Our preference is for you to fill out the paperwork prior to our first session, so we can spend the time together talking rather than filling out forms.
If you are someone who likes to be prepared and ready, who likes to prepare, I suggest you might appreciate the following information. Almost everyone who comes to counseling says that they are wonderful listeners, then they listen to correct, to convert, to persuade, rather than listen to understand their partner.
If you can review the talker and listener job description, your relationship will instantly improve.
If you then validate when there is a difference, rather than judging or telling your partner they are unreasonable or ridiculous...
Then if you stop doing the four horsemen (Gottman) which is essentially hitting below the belt, you will find your confidence in conflict goes up because you start it from a different mindset. Gottman suggests many different ways to deal with conflict and Don has been thoroughly trained in those, as well as training in assertiveness, divorce mediation, collaborative divorce anger management and more.
