We have 5 senses and people usually favor one sense over another. “I see what you mean” is visual.
If you reply to that with, “yeah, I hear ya,” then you have broken rapport.
Stay in the same sense they are using.
Kinesthetic and emotions/feelings overlap.
With apologies to my brother, most people don’t say things like, “I smell what you are saying.”
Come up with some common words they use in their speech, with regards to their senses and use those. Come up with your own, as well. Don’t forget to take turns.
