Today’s topic is - Only way out is violence. That is some people’s default.
“You cheated on me, therefore…” and they choose the violent option.
“Terrorists did this so I am going to strike back at their country and teach them a lesson” is commonly done and then they are surprised that people reject the premise of their logic.
“Coach did this, therefore I am going to…”
“Classmate did __ and I am going to get them back”
Vengeance makes things worse.
The behavior is bad but the motivation is even more problematic. Can we make violence unacceptable and unattractive?
Not by punishing but by creating causes and conditions for peace.
When you see the options, you simply would not choose violence.
It is always a bad option. We don’t see our choices and what the consequences of those choices are…
Violence has a function when oppression exists and our needs are not met. Before you consider violence, you must go through a series of questions and check your motivation and strategy and then there are always better options.
