Consumption
Ever see a friend who seems to not quite get how it works but needs a nudge?
Imagine saying this to them, “We inflict violence upon our own body and consciousness by our way of eating, drinking, or working. When we consume, read, or view certain products, we inflict violence on ourselves.
Our consciousness as well as our body can be victim to mindless consumption. When we consume something that is not healthy for our body, we are not loving ourselves, we are violating ourselves.
Television programs, magazines, films, or conversations that contain violence and craving promote inner conflict. We often live our daily life in forgetfulness, allowing consumption to intoxicate us and our children.”
“If we allow ourselves to be nourished by delusion, ignorance, fear, and violence, our consciousness will bring about the kind of life that makes us, and those around us suffer. By ingesting the right kinds of mental, physical, and spiritual food, we grow in wisdom and compassion and non-violence.”
Read that again and ask yourself what you are nourishing and feeding within yourself.
